Although Spain had more possession it was Germany that looked more dangerous and who all but booked their place in the knock-out phase with this win. The decisive goal came three minutes before half-time: Schweer headed in a cross from close range which the Spanish goalkeeper managed to parry away but only for Däbritz to bundle it over the line.
